Action adventure novel in a historical backgroundJohn Gavina is a Minorcan young man born in 1755 in Ciutadella, in the island of Minorca, of a poor family of fishermen. John kills a French attorney to save his sister of being raped and has to flee and turn his life into a chance which will take him to study Nautica in Barcelona, after being captive in a pirate ship, and to serve in the Mediterranean English Navy.John becomes a great navigator, crosses the Atlantic and enlists in the North American Army to fight in the Colonies’ Independence War and, later, in the wars against the Indians. However, he has left in Minorca his beloved Agatha, a young lady forced by her family to marry Philip of Gaula, owner of a rice plantation in South Carolina. The lovers strive to meet again in America when Philip of Gaula moves to Charles Town, where John Gavina becomes an archetype of the fight for love and freedom.
